Diane Prevary began worshiping at Tuckahoe in 2013 after moving from Texas where Diane retired from active ministry. In the Fall of 2015 she began the volunteer position of Parish Associate to provide support to the pastor, session and congregation’s ministry.
In our denomination Parish Associates are Teaching Elders who are often retired or working in non-parish ministry. In this capacity they relate to local congregations in helpful but limited capacities (that means, no office hours). Diane’s areas of contribution are preaching and worship leadership, adult education and church polity (moderating the session in the pastor’s absence). She considers this service part of her offering to the church.
A cradle-roll Presbyterian, Diane grew up in Charlottesville, VA and was educated at Mary Washington College and Union Theological Seminary in VA. She was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament (Teaching Elder) in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. in 1983.
Over the years Diane served as a pastor to four congregations and in executive ministry for three presbyteries. She and Jim Bushong were married in 2002. Their blended family includes five adult children, the spouses of two, and six grandchildren. Jim and Diane live in Chester.
